Expat Women: US$5,000 Book Launch Competition: Terms and Conditions
5 May 2011
These terms and conditions are for the 5 May 2011 launch of the book entitled Expat Women: Confessions – 50 Answers to Your Real-Life Questions about Living Abroad (hereafter referred to as the EWC book). By participating in the competition, entrants accept these Terms and Conditions unconditionally.
1.
The launch competition will be conducted by ExpatWomen.com on behalf of the publisher, ExpatWomen.com Enterprises Pty Ltd ATF ExpatWomen.com Trust, a registered Australian company.
2.
The launch competition will start at 12am on 5 May 2011 New York time. No entries received before this time will be considered. However, ExpatWomen.com reserves the right to invite entrants who have submitted an entry before this time, to re-submit their entry after the abovementioned competition starting time.
3.
The launch competition will conclude at 11:59pm 31 May 2011 New York time. No entries received after this time will be considered. However, ExpatWomen.com reserves the right to judge an entry as received within the competition timeframe, if the entrant can prove to the satisfaction of the publisher (before the winners' names have been selected) that they did in fact submit their entry in time, but it was not received in time by ExpatWomen.com.
4.
By entering this competition, all entrants acknowledge that they are not prevented from entering any such competition, due to their current country/state/territory regulations, or any other such regulations, which may prevent their entry into this competition.
5.
Entrants to this competition must be 18 years of age or older.
6.
To enter this competition, an entrant must: (a) purchase a copy of the abovementioned EWC book, and then (b) forward to ExpatWomen.com, their purchase e-receipt (or other proof of purchase acceptable by ExpatWomen.com) via email to contactus@expatwomen.com.
7.
For each one copy purchased, one entry will be made into this competition by ExpatWomen.com, for that entrant. So for example, if one e-receipt shows the purchase of two EWC books, then two entries will be given for that entrant.
8.
Entrants may submit multiple e-receipts, providing they are for separate purchases of the EWC book, and will therefore be able to enter the competition multiple times.
9.
The name on the e-receipt does not need to match the name of the entrant (for example, if one member of a family purchases the book on their credit card but another member of the family wishes to enter this competition). However, ExpatWomen.com reserves the right to challenge the legitimacy of an entry and whether that person does indeed have permission to use that purchase e-receipt under their name.
10
No entrant can win more than one of the prizes offered. This means that if an entrant's name is randomly selected more than once (either for the same or for different purchases of the EWC book), they cannot win more than one of the prizes. Therefore, any drawing of their name (other than the first drawing of their name) will be treated as invalid.
11.
We understand that the purchase e-receipts from the Amazon website stores do not show personal credit card information. However, if any purchase e-receipt from Amazon (or any other store that might sell the EWC book during the term of this competition) does show credit card information (or any other personal information that the entrant does not want to share with ExpatWomen.com), the entrant is permitted to delete those pieces of data from their e-receipt and not share them with ExpatWomen.com.
12.
Any data forwarded to ExpatWomen.com, will NOT be used by ExpatWomen.com for any purpose other than for this competition. (Directly-related purposes include to contact the winners and/or to notify entrants of the winners and/or to thank each entrant for entering.)
13.
Once all winners have been contacted and all prizes claimed, all e-receipts will be permanently deleted from the ExpatWomen.com records.
14.
No responsibility is accepted for ineligible or fraudulent entries. If there is doubt regarding the authenticity of an e-receipt, ExpatWomen.com may contact entrants for further confirmation of their purchase, and if this cannot be provided, ExpatWomen.com reserves the right not to enter that person's name in this competition.
15.
Winners will be drawn, at random, within one week of the closure deadline for this competition.
16.
The first winner randomly drawn will win Prize 1. The second winner will win Prize 2 and so on until all prizes have been allocated.
17.
ExpatWomen.com will attempt to notify all of the winners of their allocated prizes within seven (7) calendar days of the drawing of their names and the allocation of their prizes.
18.
All prizewinners have seven (7) calendar days to acknowledge and accept their prize. If they fail to do so, ExpatWomen.com will contact them at least one further time and may choose to give them a further seven (7) calendar days to confirm their acceptance of their allocated prize.
19.
In the event that a prizewinner does not confirm their chosen prize within the allocated timeframe, they will be eliminated from the competition, and a new winner will be randomly selected to assume that allocated prize. In the event that this occurs, the same guidelines as in (18) will apply, in terms of notification and acceptance periods.
20.
Winners will be contacted by the email address used to submit their e-receipt. If an entrant does not wish to be notified via that particular email address, they must notify Expat Women of an alternative email to use, prior to the closure of this competition.
21.
In the event that ExpatWomen.com is forced to substitute a prize, the substituted prize will be of a similar nature and of the same or greater value than the original prize. ExpatWomen.com will inform the winner of the substituted prize in writing (via email) as soon as is possible.
22.
Entrants give ExpatWomen.com permission for their names, nationalities and country locations to be published by ExpatWomen.com and/or used for publicity purposes by ExpatWomen.com, if they are winners in this competition. The winners' names will be published on the ExpatWomen.com website and Expat Women Blog and will remain visible somewhere on those sites for at least three (3) months after the competition has closed. If any entrant does NOT want their name published in this manner, they must NOT enter this competition.
23.
Family and employees of ExpatWomen.com and the other prize-givers (excluding Amazon.com) will not be allowed to win any of the prizes in this competition.
24.
The list and order of the prizes are as follows, with more detail on the ExpatWomen.com website:
Prize 1: Career, Recruitment and/or Personal Branding Coaching – Valued at US$1,010!10 Lois Freeke (Lois Freeke)
Prize 10: Amazon Gift Voucher – valued at US$100 Amazon Gift Vouchers. Redeemable at any Amazon store.
25
All prizes that involve coaching (namely prizes 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8) will consist of three (3) separate coaching sessions of forty-five (45) minutes each. The coaching sessions are transferable by the winner to another person, but all three sessions must be undertaken by the same person. Thus, after the first (and/or second) one has taken place, the remaining sessions cannot be transferred to another person. The coaching sessions must be started and completed in 2011, at times mutually convenient to both the provider and the recipient. The coaching sessions may be completed by telephone or Skype (or similar VOIP service). The initiator of the call will be the recipient and any telephone charges will therefore be the sole responsibility of the recipient of the prize.
26.
ExpatWomen.com's decision concerning the determination of the winners and all matters related to this competition is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Please do not enter if you do not accept this condition.
27.
In the event of any circumstances arising outside of ExpatWomen.com's control, which in the opinion of ExpatWomen.com make it necessary to suspend, change or cancel the competition, ExpatWomen.com reserves the right to do this and will notify the general public by the ExpatWomen.com website and ExpatWomen.com Blog as soon as possible thereafter.
28.
ExpatWomen.com reserves the right to amend or alter the conditions of the competition at any time as they deem necessary for the safe, legal and fair running of the competition or should exceptional circumstances require such action.
29.
This competition shall be governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia.
30.
Any questions about this competition must be directed to Andrea Martins via email on andreaweb@expatwomen.com.
