Be prepared to leave what is normal back home and embrace the new experiences this country can give you.

Optimistic spirited people need apply as only optimists would find the happiest experiences.

Change your life to suit the country you move to, remember, you are the visitor, and have to behave according to the dictates of the local culture (conservative).
4.
Bring all your creature comforts with you as it may be difficult or expensive to procure what you need to live according to the level of comfort which you may have been accustomed to.
5.
Read up as much as you can and obtain as much information as possible about the culture, way of life and government before moving here. If you can, spend a 2 week reconnaissance trip prior to shipping your whole life over.

Be aware that time works differently in Egypt than in other places in the world.

Keep your sense of humour healthy; you're going to need it.
3.
Remember that while the tone of spoken Arabic may sound aggressive, very few of the things anyone says to you will be unfriendly.
4.
Learn enough Arabic to talk to the locals and PRACTICE it. No one will laugh at your accent. They will be charmed.
5.
Egypt is the ultimate adventure. Enjoy it

Bring and open mind -- Egypt is still a developing country. It is an Islamic country with some Western influences.
2.
Bring modest clothing -- The Egyptian/Muslim way is for women to be covered. You probably will not feel comfortable (and will get stares) in short skirts/shorts or revealing tops. Of course, only you can decide what you are comfortable with after being in the environment.
3.
Be careful where and what you eat -- Stomach bugs are common here.
4.
Community Service Association -- This organization can help you get acclimated to Cairo. The organize tours and trips around town. They offer Arabic lessons.
They also host community activities and have a gym.
5.
Get ready to explore -- Egypt has amazing ancient artifacts. But there is also fascinating art, architecture and culture from the Islamic influences. Don't miss out on the experiences.
