My name is Mandy and I'm 40 years old. I relocated to the Netherlands almost 6 years ago. I met my husband here and we were married in 2004. We don't have any children but 3 crazy cats own us.  Not long after we moved here, my  mother and brother followed. They are now living in the next village.  Life here is wonderful, so laid back and such a contrast to the hustle and bustle of England. Right now I am out of work, but actively seeking employment. Back in England I was an Area Manager for a health and Safety company before making the decision to move abroad. All the best! Mandy.

1.  Be prepared to learn the language. Lots of people do speak English but it would really help to make your life a lot easier.
   
   
2.  Be prepared for the red tape when applying for a visa or getting married here. There's lots of it.
   
   
3. Try to have a job lined up before you arrive. It's not that easy to find work, unless you're living in one of the major cities.
    
4. Renting a house in a major city is expensive and be prepared for waiting lists. Renting in an area not so popular is a better choice.
   
   
5.  Remember, bikes are still king of the road. Get one, you'll need it.
