Hi Everyone. We hope you are all enjoying your lives abroad. We have lots of news for you this month! |
Firstly, we were thrilled to have Andrea at the 10th anniversary WIN Forum last week. She flew from Australia to Norway to join 700 other women looking for inspiration and a chance to network. To read about some of the conference highlights, please see of our two-part special WIN Forum 2007 Report.
Secondly, we were very pleased to receive a WebAward in September from the US Web Marketing Association. came with the judges’ comments: “Your content is fantastic and is proof of your strong editorial skills and focus on your audience”. Equally beneficial was their feedback about how we can improve our site’s design and technology in the future. |
Thirdly, we want to officially open our section. Special thanks to the women who kick-started the section by filling in . We hope you’ll consider helping as well. |
And finally, if you’d like a little more behind-the-scenes info about what we’re up to, you might enjoy reading our new . |
| Many thanks and warm wishes, |
Thanks and enjoy!

Hi, we are living in a very small village in Finland. We have been here for 7 months now and I’m still having a hard time meeting people. I know there are foreigners living here, but there seem to be no expat-type clubs or associations (out of the capital city) that get us together. I’ve joined some online forums, but that’s not quite the same as meeting someone for a coffee! What can I do?

Starting an online store is definitely a great option for those who are no longer interested in traditional jobs. But one very important thing to keep in mind is not to have the mindset that starting an online store will cost less money or take up less of your time. The web is a very different world...

Japan is an island country (comprising over three thousand islands) in East Asia. The characters that make up Japan´s name mean "sun-origin", which is why Japan is sometimes identified as the "Land of the Rising Sun". Thanks to Japan Guide for supplying our Settling In Tips.

Maybe it seems strange that it is here in this predominantly Shia and conservative town of Tyre, that I would once again feel comfortable in a two-piece. Back in Oceanside, California, where I’m most recently from, it seemed that only the really young or the really in shape would wear one... |

Congratulations to Sobia (in the UAE),

Elsa (in China),
Jeanne-Marie (in South Africa) and
Rose (in Argentina) for randomly being selected by Alison Jean Lester to receive a free copy of her book:

| Locked Out: Stories Far From Home. |
Alison is an American based in Singapore. Her book is a collection of ten, diverse, short-stories. One story talks about an American woman in Tokyo, who feels isolated from both her husband (who’s more focused on his sexy assistant) and new location’s culture. Another story talks about an American boy and his German immigrant neighbor. And there’s even one about a recently-widowed Australian woman recovering the bones of her late husband who drowned at an Asian resort.
